Coldplay’s first full-length touring appearance – and first show since their Global Citizen Festival slot in 2016 – in India caused a ticketing frenzy yesterday (Sunday), as BookMyShow reportedly crashed just minutes before the onsale was due to begin.
According to India’s Free Press Journal, the ticketing platform crashed just before tickets to see the British band went on sale. Many live music fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to vent their frustration over missing out on a pass to witness the Music of the Spheres world tour after waiting in a long virtual queue.
Coldplay had originally announced two shows in Mumbai on January 18-19, but added a third following high demand.
Tickets went on sale yesterday (September 22), with BookMyShow imposing a maximum purchase of four tickets per user.
Announcing the move on X, the platform’s live entertainment arm BookMyShow Live said: “We heard you and want every fan to have a fair chance of getting tickets to experience the show.”
However, one user responded to the post and said: “It can be frustrating when ticketing platforms aren’t prepared for the demand, especially for something as huge as a Coldplay concert! Hopefully, BookMyShow takes note of this feedback to improve the experience for fans in the future.”

Following the general sale, BookMyShow reminded fans to protect themselves from ticket scams.
“It has come to our attention that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid. Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please don’t fall prey to this because you will be buying fake tickets. Avoid Scams. BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales,” warned BookMyShow.
