Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

Tackling fraudsters

Spinzo, a provider of customised ticket sales solutions for sports teams, venues, and events, has worked to identify and prevent a new type of credit card fraud. This sees fraudsters open an account with a digital bank and issue dozens of credit cards under fake aliases, which allows them to evade ticket limits and buy up inventory to sell on. Spinzo has addressed this by analysing purchase trends and clustering transactions by the issuing bank of credit cards. When a digital bank’s cards are being used in high frequency, it is noted as a potential fraudster.

Data-driven marketing and rewards

Texas-based music and entertainment software company, PickleJar, has announced a new integration with OptCulture to offer venue partners the ability to issue on-demand loyalty campaigns via the OptCulture platform. The campaigns will feature built-in coupons, promotional offers and enhanced business analytics for venues, which will help to unify customer data and loyalty incentives across locations for personalised, data-driven marketing and rewards. With the new integration, venues will be able to deliver compelling cross-channel customer experiences across all touchpoints, including email, text messaging and PickleJar Live in-app notifications.

A cinematic partnership

Queue, a discovery app that allows users to explore, review movies and shows, as well as share recommendations with friends, has teamed up with Atom Tickets, a social movie ticketing app. The partnership will see Atom extend its ticketing process to Queue users. The more than two million users that have downloaded Queue will be able to browse showtimes and theatres in the US, supporting ticketing for any of Atom’s exhibitor partners. This covers more than 25,000 screens in the US, from AMC Theatres, Regal and Cinemark, through to independent cinemas.

Bearkats, Bearkats

SoldOut.com has been named the official resale partner for the Sam Houston Bearkats, marking the first collegiate sports arena deal for the online marketplace. SoldOut.com will provide fans with a platform to buy resale tickets to all Bearkats sporting events. The Bearkats represent the athletics division of Sam Houston State University in Texas.
