Rick Jurkiewicz has become business development manager at Ticketline after departing his role as head of ticketing at the Rugby Football League (RFL).
Jurkiewicz (pictured left) spent eight years with the RFL in Manchester and was previously the organisation’s data protection officer. His spell with the RFL included a period as ticketing lead for the Rugby League World Cup 2021.
Formerly business development manager at Ticketmaster, Jurkiewicz will now hold the same role at Ticketline. The Manchester-based agency is one of the UK’s leading independent ticketing solutions provider for festivals, music, sport, visitor attractions and theatre.
Speaking fondly of his period with the RFL, he added on a LinkedIn post: “It’s been a fascinating and educational experience, seeing first-hand the challenges faced by small businesses and witnessing the politics of governance that I’d never come across nor appreciated previously.
“I’m returning to ticket agency business. I’ll continue to be based in Manchester, but working across music, theatre and sport and working with both allocation and full ticketing system / access control installation business.”
See Tickets UK co-founder Rob Wilmshurst has taken on responsibility for all CTS Eventim’s ticketing activities in the UK.
The appointment comes just months after CTS Eventim completed its €300m (£255m/$327m) acquisition of See Tickets, where Wilmshurst served as chief executive.
Wilmshurst’s new duties begin immediately after previous managing director of Eventim UK Martin Fitzgerald stepped down from his role. John Gibson will remain with the company, replacing Fitzgerald as managing director, and will be part of an expanded management team under Wilmshurst’s leadership. Read the full story here.
Dinenage remains culture committee chair
Caroline Dinenage MP has been re-elected unopposed as chair of the Parliamentary Culture, Media and Sports Committee.
Dinenage (pictured centre) had held the role since May 2023 at the committee, which scrutinises the work of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its associated public bodies.
She said: “I’m delighted to be re-elected to chair the Culture, Media and Sport Committee and entrusted to build on our achievements in the last parliament. These sectors are our global economic super-power, they have remarkable abilities to drive regeneration and bring communities together.
“I will continue to work cross-party to ensure the government doesn’t take them for granted and they continue to fire on all cylinders.”
Lucy Davies has been named chief executive of Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival after a spell as executive director at London’s Young Vic Theatre.
Davies (pictured right) will replace former chief executive Andrew Comben, whose departure was announced in April this year following 16 years in the position. During her career, Davies has also produced shows at the National Theatre Wales and Royal Court Theatre in London.
Brighton Dome is an arts centre consisting of three venues at the Royal Pavilion Estate. The city’s annual festival is the largest annual curated multi-arts event in England.
Davies said: “Brighton Dome is a unique, iconic and magical set of spaces with so many stories and memories baked into its bricks and Brighton Festival is one of the longest-running, most joyful and dynamic festivals in our cultural calendar.”
Wimmer takes ticketing role
Pro ice hockey team Atlanta Gladiators has promoted Trevor Wimmer to director of ticket sales.
Wimmer joined the Georgia-based minor league organisation in June of 2021. He began as an inside sales representative before receiving promotions to account executive, senior account executive and sales manager.
“I’m excited and humbled to be named the director of ticket sales for the Gladiators,” Wimmer said. “From the time I moved to Duluth, Glads fans have been so welcoming, and the relationships I’ve created will truly last a lifetime. I’m privileged for the opportunity to help lead our talented ticket staff into the future, and can’t wait to see what we all can achieve together.”
