BookMyShow’s chief operating officer was questioned by Mumbai police for four hours on Monday as the authorities commenced their investigation into criminal complaints concerning the Coldplay on-sale.

Anil Makhija responded to a summons to appear before the city’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with a complaint regarding the alleged black marketing of Coldplay tickets for their 2025 tour.

According to the Indian Express, Makhija attended Mumbai police headquarters and his interview with officers was recorded. Reports claim that chief executive Ashish Hemrajani was also summoned but has not yet attended.

The summons came after complaints were filed by consumers following the Coldplay on-sale. One was filed by prominent lawyer Amit Vyas, who claimed that BookMyShow worked in cahoots with resale sites such as Viagogo and Gigsberg. Vyas, in a complaint to the EOW, accused BookMyShow and Live Nation of committing organised crime, cheating, and criminal breach of trust.

BookMyShow has denied any collaboration with resale sites and filed its own complaint about illegal ticket scalping with police following the Coldplay on-sale.

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of a political party, has also filed a complaint with the EOW. It accuses BookMyShow and its management of money laundering and cheating up to a value of $60m in connection with ticket sales for the Coldplay concert.
