Tixbase, a leading provider of blockchain-based ticketing solutions, has announced the acquisition of Spotlite, a no-code platform for event organisers to create custom mobile apps tailored to their events.
This strategic acquisition positions Tixbase as a one-stop shop for events, integrating ticketing and event mobile apps into a seamless, unified platform.
“This acquisition represents a major leap forward in our mission to empower event organisers with the tools they need to create unforgettable experiences,” said Emil R. Ljesnjanin, CEO of Tixbase.
“By integrating Spotlite’s mobile engagement platform with our powerful ticketing solution, we’re not just enhancing the event experience —we’re reimagining it for the future.”
What is Spotlite?
Spotlite’s apps offer a range of features designed to enhance on-site engagement, including dynamic maps, cashless payments, personalised recommendations, social features, and more.
The acquisition will enable event organisers to manage their ticketing storefronts and event mobile apps in one place. Tixbase’s innovative Smart Ticket Technology, which authenticates tickets via blockchain from purchase to resale and entry, will now be complemented by Spotlite’s robust mobile app offering. Together, the two products will create a cohesive journey for fans, integrating the ticket purchase process directly with the on-site experience, via the events mobile app.
“With the addition of Spotlite, Tixbase empowers event organisers to control the entire fan journey from a single, integrated platform,” said Emil R. Ljesnjanin, CEO of Tixbase.
“We are committed to solving the persistent challenges in the ticketing industry by offering a more secure, transparent, and user-friendly solution. The integration of Spotlite’s mobile app offering into our ticketing ecosystem will drive deeper connections between event organisers and their attendees.”
Tixbase enhanced by acquisition
The addition of Spotlite enables Tixbase to drive event engagement while providing organisers with a powerful owned media channel. This platform allows organisers to build robust communities, engage in 1:1 personalisation, and foster meaningful interactions through social feeds, discussion boards, and direct messaging. This keeps fans engaged year round with things like lineup reveals, and plays directly into an organisers ticketing strategy via special discounts for app users.
Additionally, the acquisition unlocks the ability to sync customer data across ticket purchase history and on-site engagement. Event marketing teams can integrate this data with email marketing and ads platforms, enabling them to further personalise their communication and ensure more targeted and effective outreach.
As part of the acquisition, Chris Timson, Co-founder of Spotlite, will join Tixbase as Head of Product. “I’m extremely excited to be joining Tixbase to build the future of events,” said Timson. “Event tech is antiquated. Attendees should be able to receive recommendations based off their preferences or past experiences, and earn points for engaging with one or more events. When you capture this data you can start to identify and reward your most loyal customers. This is the vision Emil and I share, and this is the type of experience we’re actively building at Tixbase.”
Driving innovation
The acquisition is a significant step forward for Tixbase, which is on pace to process 26 million tickets in 2025, the highest volume ever transacted by a blockchain ticketing company. The business continues to drive innovation in the ticketing industry by removing intermediaries, reducing fraud, and delivering a streamlined experience for both event organisers and attendees.
Tixbase and Spotlite will provide event organisers with:
- A unified platform for managing ticketing and mobile apps, streamlining the entire event experience.
- Blockchain-based Smart Ticket Technology for secure, transparent, and authenticated ticket transactions.
- Integrated resale marketplaces that ensure fair pricing and instant, frictionless transfers.
- Advanced customer data insights that enable targeted marketing campaigns and personalised audience engagement.
Tixbase added: “This acquisition marks a new era for event ticketing and mobile engagement, setting the stage for a future where event organisers have complete control over the end-to-end fan journey.”
