Oasis to be billed for extra concert costs by council

Manchester City Council has confirmed it will charge Oasis for extra costs associated with the British band’s five comeback shows in Heaton Park.

The money will go towards the likes of extra toilets and security arrangements, as some 80,000 fans are expected to attend each of the five nights at the 600-acre site.

The move follows other UK councils, including Edinburgh, where Oasis will be billed for work behind the scenes for the comeback shows. According to the BBC, Edinburgh Council had to pay £40,000 (€48,000/$52,000) for costs associated with hosting Taylor Swift at Murrayfield Stadium earlier this summer.

However, new rules have now been put in place meaning Oasis will have to cover these additional costs for their own Murrayfield shows.

Oasis will perform five concerts at Heaton Park between July 11-20.

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced in August they were reuniting to perform across the UK and Ireland in 2025.

This was followed by the announcement last week that Oasis would also travel to the US, Canada and Mexico as part of the reunion tour.
