Zayn Malik has postponed the US leg of his first solo headline tour following the death of former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne.
Malik (pictured left) was set to perform in San Francisco on Wednesday, followed by dates in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York as part of his Stairway to the Sky tour.
The English singer has opted to reschedule the dates for January, after Payne (pictured right) died last week following a fall from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, Malik said: “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the Stairway to the Sky tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.”

Malik’s Stairway to the Sky tour is still scheduled to head to the UK towards the end of November, kicking off with a show at O2 Academy Edinburgh. A spokesperson for Malik told the PA news agency that the UK dates will not be changed.
This will be followed by further dates in Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton and Newcastle.
Malik and Payne performed in One Direction along with Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. Malik left the band in 2015, before One Direction went on indefinite hiatus in 2016.
