Venue management and live events company ASM Global has announced new leadership appointments for Australia’s International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney.

The venue’s current general manager Adam Mather-Brown (pictured left) has been appointed as chief executive, following the retirement of former CEO Geoff Donaghy after a 30-year career with ASM Global.

Mather-Brown has held leadership roles across five major convention centres over 26 years, two decades of which were spent with ASM Global.

Additionally, ICC Sydney’s Beverley Parker (pictured right) will take on the position of deputy CEO while continuing in her current role as the venue’s director of business development. Parker will also maintain her role within ASM Global (APAC) as director of marketing.

The appointments have been made as part of the organisation’s long-held succession plans, and is considered a natural progression.

“Adam’s experience is exceptional, making him the ideal person to lead ICC Sydney into its second decade of operation, upholding ASM Global’s bold aspiration for ICC Sydney to be one of the world’s best performing convention, exhibition and entertainment centres,” said ASM Global (APAC) chairman and CEO Harvey Lister.

ICC Sydney was developed by ASM Global and opened in 2016. It was designed by architectural firms Hassell and Populous, and replaced the former Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre which was demolished in 2013.

On Parker’s appointment, Lister added: “Beverley is an exceptional executive who has experience both in venues and sales and marketing. She has been in an executive role at ICC Sydney as director of business development for more than 10 years and has spent a significant part of her career in senior management roles with hotels and other organisations within the Darling Harbour precinct.

“Beverley’s significant contribution to the commercial success of ICC Sydney over the last decade puts her in good stead for her role as deputy chief executive officer and will be of great benefit to the ongoing development and success of the venue.”
