Funcode.hu, Hungary's premier ticketing platform, is prepping for a headline-grabbing 2025 as the region draws global music stars.
Having established itself as the largest independent player in Hungary over the past two decades, Funcode.hu is no stranger to high pressure on sales.
For 2025’s shows it has managed ticket sales for some of the biggest acts from Iron Maiden to Lenny Kravitz, at iconic venues like Puskas Arena and MVM Dome.
Most recently, the business added Imagine Dragons to that impressive lineup. We take a look at how the company pulled it off.
Funcode.hu’s staying power in the ticketing industry, even after two decades, lies in a culture of change. It has made a habit of innovating even when on top, ensuring the business is always ready for what’s next.
As Funcode.hu began handling larger events, it quickly realised that maintaining the status quo wouldn’t be enough. Funcode.hu needed to prepare for even bigger challenges on the horizon.
To achieve that, Funcode.hu recently partnered with Nuweb Group, an innovative event tech provider, to help deliver on vision and growth.
“We were ready to take funcode.hu to the next level, but we needed a partner who understood our vision,” said Barna Jardany, Head Pilot at Funcode.hu. “Nuweb impressed us with their collaborative approach and flexibility in adapting to our needs.”
Last month, Funcode.hu took charge of ticket sales for Imagine Dragons’ highly anticipated stop in Hungary.
Produced by Live Nation, this marks the band’s first full-scale arena tour across Europe, covering 16 countries.
Funcode.hu, in partnership with Nuweb Group, managed the ticketing process, ensuring the technology was ready for the complexities of the event.
Imagine Dragons, known globally for hits like “Radioactive,” “Demons,” and “Believer,” saw demand soar, resulting in extra dates added in the UK. In Hungary, the presale began on September 1st, with fans rushing to secure tickets.
“Nuweb impressed us with their collaborative approach and flexibility in adapting to our needs.”
Funcode.hu faced the familiar challenge of preventing crashes, and ensuring smooth transactions, whilst maintaining the premium customer experience it is known for.
Despite surging demand, the event proved the system’s capacity to handle high engagement, underscoring the resilience of the upgraded infrastructure and readiness for large-scale events.
Funcode.hu managed the surge by controlling traffic in real time and adjusting the outflow as needed to accommodate the tens of thousands of eagerly waiting fans.
During the sale, the team could reduce the number of users if issues arose or increase the flow to speed up entry when things were looking good.
The end result was a sale with zero downtime, ensuring fans could purchase tickets without disruption. Even at peak demand, customers waited as little as 46 seconds from queue to checkout.
Funcode.hu’s ticketing expertise, combined with Nuweb Group’s robust infrastructure and support, brought a sense of confidence and composure throughout the high-demand event.
“We’ve always been dedicated to providing a smooth and enjoyable ticketing experience,” said Jardany. “Bringing on board Nuweb Group, we’ve not only met that standard but exceeded it. The scalability and reliability especially during high-demand sales have been crucial.”
For Funcode.hu, managing intense traffic isn’t just about handling the technical load; it’s about doing so without sacrificing user satisfaction or brand integrity.
A key challenge ticketing providers face under high traffic isn’t just managing volume; it’s ensuring the seat selection process stays seamless under intense demand.
Many ticketing platforms struggle to maintain this functionality during peak traffic, forcing compromises in user experience, particularly when it comes to choosing seats.
“You can tell when we’ve hit the mark or when we have faced issues just by reading the expressions on the team’s faces.”
However, the sale of this event highlighted just how crucial this feature is to buyers, with 85% of customers opting to choose their own seats over system-assigned ones.
This is precisely why Funcode.hu partnered with Nuweb Group from the start. Its new platform brings the unique ability to independently manage seating charts for arenas exceeding 60,000 seats, giving Funcode.hu full control over the experience.
During the sale, Funcode.hu successfully met customer expectations, enabling large-scale seat selection without compromising the user experience.
For Nuweb, this event was the success of a long and collaborative partnership. “You can tell when we’ve hit the mark or when we have faced issues just by reading the expressions on the team’s faces,” said Jose San Miguel, Managing Director, at Nuweb Group.
“From customer service to the technical team, everyone was happy. For me, that’s the real measure of an event’s success. Just by looking around and talking to everyone, it was obviously a huge success.”
Funcode.hu’s partnership with Nuweb Group demonstrates how regional companies can combine local expertise with global technology to achieve remarkable results.
The collaboration can become a model for others, proving that even independent players can secure a strong market position by staying true to their roots while adopting the latest technology.
