Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture has outlined plans for the expansion of the Luxembourgticket platform to become a national ticket office and cultural hub.
The new Luxembourgticket GIE (economic interest group) will act as a platform for the cultural, sports and tourism sectors. The group will bring together the luxembourgticket service, which operates with more than 2,000 events annually, and the promotion of cultural initiatives.
The GIE’s stakeholders include government, the Luxembourg Football Federation, cities and municipalities and regional cultural centres. Its objectives include critical analyses of existing tools and processes, strengthening communication, identifying quantitative and qualitative indicators, seeking new partners, strengthening the network and intensifying relations. It will also focus on a close collaboration approach with partners in the sector.
“The strength of the ticketing system lies in the network,” said Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, Eric Thill.
“It is on this strength that we will build, because it is in this network that there is still a great deal of untapped potential. This is where the experiences of dozens of organisers and thousands of events converge, and it is on this basis that the Luxembourgticket GIE can build to become a reference in business intelligence in the cultural, sporting and tourism fields. Synergies can thus emerge, benefiting both organisers and the public.”
The GIE took over responsibility for Luxembourgticket earlier this year. Luxembourgticket sold more than 280,000 tickets in 2023 with a €5m turnover. It works with various partners, including 19 recurring partners and more than 90 regular clients.
Luxembourgticket has a budget of €866,000 for the 2024 and 2025 financial years, with plans to add to its headcount as it expands in the coming years.
