CTS Eventim has reportedly been awarded a contract to build and operate a new arena in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

The city had reached a similar operating agreement with Oak View Group, but the contract was overturned by an Austrian administrative court after CTS Eventim had raised issues around the bidding process.

A new tender was not issued, with CTS Eventim subsequently awarded the contract by Wien Holding, according to Austrian newspaper Der Standard.

Plans were submitted for a 20,000-capacity events hall, with the idea of hosting large concerts from international performers as well as sports. The project has already been delayed over the last few years, and no date has been set for the start of construction.

Der Standard reported that an online version of the Official Journal of the European Union included a notice concerning the Wein Holding Arena.

In November 2021, the company began the process to find a private partner to take over the construction and operation of the venue, after the city could no longer shoulder the project. OVG was originally awarded the contract, but CTS Eventim objected and the Vienna Administrative Court overturned the decision last year. There were no other runners, so CTS Eventim was awarded the contract.

CTS Eventim was unable to comment at this time.
