Hyundai Card – a credit card company under the South Korean motoring group Hyundai – and blockchain-focused company Modern Lion have joined Near Protocol, a Layer 1 blockchain platform.

The partnership hopes to advance Web3 integration in concert culture, while also offering protection against ticket scalping. Through its NFT (non-fungible token) platform Konkrit, Modern Lion addresses this issue by providing an NFT-based ticketing solution.

Modern Lion has already aided Hyundai Card in making ticketing for its events more secure, having worked on Hyundai Card Curated 92: Jang Beom-June and the immersive cultural experience DaVinci Moteli in the Itaewon area, Seoul.

The collaboration will focus on supporting Hyundai Card’s event ticketing through NFTs, while Modern Lion will co-host events, work on joint marketing initiatives, and build brand recognition.

“This partnership marks a significant step in revolutionising concert and show culture, blending convenience and security through NFTs and blockchain,” commented Duhee Lee, chief executive of Modern Lion.

“By offering NFT tickets and membership services, we will enhance audience experiences and foster transparency in the entertainment industry. We aim to grow with the Near ecosystem and become a globally recognised blockchain company.”

Illia Polosukhin, CEO of the Near Foundation, added: “Korea is one of the centres for real world adoption of blockchain technology and we are excited that Near will partner with Hyundai Card and Modern Lion to provide scalable infrastructure and chain abstracted user experiences.”
