Dutch blockchain ticketing start-up Celebratix has secured a €1.1m (£900,000/$1.2m) boost from Dutch entrepreneurs, Swedish venture capital investment firm uBIT and UK businessman Justin Rees.
Celebratix utilises the Solana blockchain and was founded in 2022. The platform offers event organisers control over their tickets on the secondary market, while adding a layer of security for event attendees.
The funds will be used to expand internationally, while concentrating on its core customer base of events in and around Amsterdam, such as the Chicago Social Club and nightclub Jimmy Woo.
Celebratix is on track to reach more than one million tickets in on-chain activity by the end of the year.
“We are beyond excited to set a new standard of blockchain-based ticketing,” said Frank Roskam, founder and chief executive of Celebratix.
Roskam and fellow founders Jochem Dijk and Guy Rombaut hope to use the new funding to grow in the Dutch market, but also expand further afield to Sweden and the UK. Through a partnership with MixMag, Celebratix recently entered the German market by providing services in Berlin and Hamburg.
“Celebratix was founded by event organisers, for event organisers,” said Roskam. “Having organised festivals for 40,000+ people ourselves in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, we’ve first-hand experienced the fraud issues when it comes to reselling tickets. Let alone all the data that is being lost for retargeting. We are perfectly positioned to challenge the incumbent ticketing companies like Ticketmaster.”
