Childish Gambino (pictured) has cancelled his Australian and New Zealand tour dates next year.
Real name Donald Glover, the US artist, actor and comedian was set to perform in New Zealand in January and Australia in February but has cancelled the shows due to continued recovery from an “ailment” and subsequent surgery.
The news follows the cancellation of his North American, UK and European tour dates to undergo said surgery. After his New Orleans show, Childish Gambino stated that he went to hospital in Houston “to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent”, before taking time out to recover.
As per ABC radio station Triple J, Ticketek sent an email confirming the cancellation to ticket-holders.
It included a statement from Glover, which read: “Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected. The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.
“I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give you an exceptional experience when the time is right. Thank you.”
Childish Gambino’s The New World tour was scheduled to kick off in Auckland, New Zealand on January 28, before heading to Australian cities Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
