Musician Kate Nash has joined adult website OnlyFans in order to raise money for her current tour and protest against the music industry.
The move is part of her Butts for Tour Buses campaign which saw her make stops at the House of Parliament and a number of corporations in the industry.
“I’m outside Live Nation in London, who last year had an annual revenue of £22.749bn – which is a 36.38 per cent increase from last year,” she said.
“Live Nation are the main hold-up in the government’s recommendation to give £1 per arena and stadium ticket to the grassroots, who are in crisis. So what’s the holdup?”
Outside of the Spotify building, she said: “Artists are paid 0.003 of a penny per stream whilst [Spotify] demonetised 80 per cent of music on the platform. The shareholders cashed out over $419 million between them.”
Nash states that the music industry is in crisis and that it has failed artists.
She has made a call to others to join her in criticising organisations such as Live Nation and Spotify.
“It’s time to start being vocal without worrying about being punished. They’ve built an ivory tower & they’re leaving artists behind, it’s unethical & unsustainable,” Nash wrote on social media.
“Album countdowns, playlists & billboards don’t cut it anymore. The music industry needs to pay up. I’m not scared to be vocal & neither should you be.”
Nash is set to continue her European tour on Thursday (December 5) in Utrecht before heading to Osnabrück, Berlin, and Cologne in Germany on December 6, 7, and 9, respectively.
On December 10 she is due to perform in Paris and then will play in Belfast and Dublin on December 17 and 18.
She is also scheduled to play a show at the O2 Forum in London on April 9.
