Live Nation Entertainment is set to launch its first live music venue in Southeast Asia.

The 3,000-capacity venue will be located in the heart of Singapore and is the result of a partnership with Lendlease Global Commercial real estate investment trust (REIT), supported by the Singapore Tourism Board.

The music hall will feature multiple rooms with stages, with the plan of hosting developing and established international touring acts, as well as local artists. The space can also be used for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and community events.

“It is exciting to see Live Nation and LREIT’s commitment to developing the Grange Road event space as Asia’s first flagship entertainment venue along the iconic Orchard Road,” commented Jean Ng, assistant chief executive, experience development group, Singapore Tourism Board.

“This initiative will contribute significantly to the ongoing rejuvenation of Orchard Road, expand the lifestyle offerings in the precinct and boost its attractiveness to locals and visitors. By working closely with our industry partners, we are cementing Orchard Road’s position as a must-visit lifestyle destination, while affirming Singapore’s reputation as the region’s live entertainment capital.”

Additionally, the aim is to create a community hub with a café and bar that can be utilised as a smaller event space. Live Nation will operate the venue, which will also create local employment opportunities.

“The development of Grange Road into a vibrant day-and-night event space will further strengthen LREIT’s presence in the Somerset area,” said Kelvin Chow, chief executive of Lendlease Global Commercial Trust Management.

“This is also a great opportunity for us to play a part in Orchard Road’s rejuvenation by injecting a live entertainment venue in a world class shopping street. We are excited to see our partnership with Live Nation and STB come to fruition when the multi-functional event space is completed.”

Greg Gillin, senior vice president of venue development, Live Nation Asia, added: “Live Nation is pleased to expand the live music market in Singapore with the new venue.”

The news of the Singapore project follows the announcement that Live Nation is set to open its first permanent venue in Africa.

In collaboration with Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) and Gearhouse South Africa, Live Nation is set to open The Dome in January, a new state-of-the-art venue in Johannesburg.
