English League One football Club Wigan Athletic has launched a new points-based ticketing loyalty scheme. All purchases made through the club’s new Ticketmaster system have been backdated and fans have been allocated points for all the games they have attended during the current 2024-25 season.
‘Face card’ that never declines
Argentinian football club River Plate has launched new facial recognition technology for fans entering Estadio Mâs Monumental. The project is in partnership with biometric technology and digital identity company Veridas, and includes the installation of 300 FaceID terminals. The FaceID system will enable supporters to gain quick, secure and ticketless entry to the stadium by registering their face.

Austin-headquartered Ticketbud has partnered with Sensible Weather to offer an optional Weather Guarantee service that protects ticket purchases against unexpected weather disruptions. The integration will allow event attendees to opt into Weather Guarantee at checkout, ensuring up to a 100% reimbursement if the forecast on event day fails to meet expectations, such as rain or extreme heat.
I Am Still
Jung Kook: I Am Still, a documentary chronicling BTS star Jung Kook’s solo journey has posted a final theatrical gross of $18.5m (£14m€17m), with roughly 1.38 million fans watching the film. It is the highest-grossing music cinema film of 2024, and is also the top-grossing film by an Asian solo musical artist – bolstered by success in Japan where the film grossed $4.6m.
