Crossroads Live celebrates record 2024 with more than 4.5m ticket sales

Crossroads Live, a producer of commercial theatre, has celebrated a record year with 4.5 million tickets sold, grossing over £260m (€314m/$332m). 

The producer has offices in London, North America and Australia, as well as strategic partners in Southeast Asia. Across the year, Crossroads Live created 39 standalone productions, in addition to 23 pantomimes.

In the UK, co-productions of Mean Girls and Hello, Dolly! enticed West End theatregoers, while audiences also flocked to see Magic Mike Live and nationwide tours of Jesus Christ SuperstarChicago and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Additionally, pantomimes include Robin Hood at the London Palladium, which is the fastest-selling Palladium pantomime in its nine-year history.

Tours in the US include AnnieMy Fair LadyPretty WomanDear Evan Hansen and Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, as well as seasonal productions such as Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical.

Australia witnessed a record-breaking opening of Wicked which joined productions such as Chicago and Grease, a premiere of Sister Act, and Jesus Christ Superstar – which toured the country for the first time since 1972.

Next year already looks entertaining for Australia which will welcome the 40th Anniversary tour of Cats as well as Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None and the Australian premiere of Back To The Future.

“I’m delighted to see theatre thriving! Over the past 12 months, we’ve achieved year-on-year growth, and I’m thrilled that audiences around the world are embracing the magic and thrill of our outstanding shows,” commented Crossroads chief executive David Ian.

“As we look ahead to next year, we’re excited to continue working with our incredible partners to bring cherished theatre classics, as well as some new titles, to theatregoers in both familiar and new destinations. Thanks to their talent, and the dedication of our incredible team, the future of global theatre looks very positive.”

Crossroads also saw two productions play in the Chinese city of Shenzhen in October, with productions of Chicago, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera and Cats playing through 2025. Seven more musicals are also set to be announced over the next 12 months.
