Live Nation Entertainment has been revealed as the operator of a new 19,000-seat amphitheatre in Shakopee, Minnesota.
The new amphitheatre is being constructed by Minnesota company Swervo Development Corp, which has a history of building live entertainment venues.
By partnering with Live Nation on the project, it is hoped that the community will become a can’t-miss destination for live music tours.
It is scheduled to open in late summer of 2025.
“This partnership is an incredible opportunity to create a venue that meets the needs of artists and fans. Live Nation supports artists with deep expertise that will bring many more amazing shows in our region,” said Ned Abdul, president and chief executive of Swervo Development Corp.
“We’re committed to build spaces that support the community and energise the economy, while providing entertainment, and are excited to bring this vision alive for Shakopee and the Twin Cities region.”
The yet-unnamed amphitheatre will have an expected line-up of more than 30 events each summer concert season, and will offer 360-degree views of the Minnesota River Valley. Premium experiences will also be incorporated into the venue’s planning, with full season packages to be available across luxury suits and boxes.
An environmental angle has also been factored in, thanks to Live Nation’s Green Nation sustainability programme. Zero waste teams will work to reduce single-use plastics while promoting recycling, composting and food donations.
“Congratulations to the Swervo team for making this venue a reality in their hometown. It fills a big gap in the local venue landscape. Our Minneapolis-based team looks forward to creating a place where fans from all around can come to make lifelong memories while adding to the deep music history in Minnesota,” said Jordan Zachary, president, venues, at the concert promoter.
