Björk and Skepta headline Apple Music’s New Year’s Eve livestreams

Apple Music has secured Iceland’s Björk and British grime artist Skepta to perform at its New Year’s Eve livestream events set to air on December 31 at 9pm GMT.

Both events are titled Apple Music: NYE, with the first seeing Björk perform a DJ set as well as performances from Tim Sweeney and Naina in audio-only streams.

From 11pm onwards, the second round will begin in video format with sets from Skepta and Uncle Waffles.

The performances were recorded at The Cause in London and will stream on Apple Music, Apple Music Club, and Apple Music 1.

Aside from the two Apple Music Live: NYE events, the platform is curating a 24-hour programme featuring special DJ mixes from artists such as Justice, Rüfüs Du Sol, horsegiirL, John Summit, Jyoty, Kayan, DIDI Han, SPINALL, and Skratch Bastid.

The New Year’s Eve schedule comes after Björk recently concluded a sound exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris lasting from November 20 to December 9.

Titled “Natural Manifesto”, it consisted of a three-minute 40-second piece of audio that used AI software to recreate the sound of extinct animals and merge them with spoken word vocals.
