Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which first opened in London’s West End in 2016, has sold more than three million tickets.

The show is a sequel to the Harry Potter series and is set 19 years after main characters Harry, Ron and Hermione ended their final battle against You-Know-Who and his army of supporters. The show is based on a script from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, British playwright Jack Thorne and theatre director John Tiffany.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, in collaboration with Playground Entertainment and HP West End, and is presented at London’s Palace Theatre.

According to a report from Forbes, the production sold 544,257 tickets in 2024 alone.

The production is split into two in London, and follows the series’ main protagonists alongside the next generation of witches and wizards at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Forbes’ Caroline Reid added that when tickets first went on sale in October 2015 in the pre-sale period, some 780,000 people attempted to purchase seats – far exceeding the number available.

Additionally, the show’s first full year in 2017 saw 460,000 tickets sold up to April 2019.

Tickets can currently be booked for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre until June 29.
