The Queensland Government has claimed that its schedule of more than 125 events for 2025 will boost the Australian state’s economy by A$1bn (£500m/$620m/€604m).
Sports fans will be able to see the NRL Magic Round or the British and Irish Lions at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, while music fans can look forward to a range of events such as Birdsville’s Big Red Sunset Concert.
There will also be a plethora of arts and cultural shows as well as events for families such as Bluey’s World in Brisbane.
“Queensland’s playlist of events continues to grow with our 2025 events calendar now worth $1 billion,” Minister Andrew Powell said.
“With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, we’re strongly focused on ensuring Queensland is the events hub of Australia.
“Queensland’s diverse line-up of more than 125 events spread right across the state, coupled with our great outdoor lifestyle, will make for an irresistible combination and we know people will want to be part of the action.”
Unique events like the Julia Creek Dirt and Dust Festival, Jumpers and Jazz in July and the Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular are aimed at showcasing the state’s offerings, along with the return of events like the Magic Millions Carnival on the Gold Coast.
“Events play a pivotal role in not only attracting visitors to the state, but getting them to stay longer and generating a significant economic return for communities across Queensland,” said Tourism and Events Queensland’s group executive of events Richard Clarke.
“Our events also celebrate Queensland’s unique and diverse story which raises the profile of our destinations and keeps people coming back for more.”
