Regional Western Australia residents will soon benefit from, and experience, a range of cultural and arts projects thanks to the 2024-25 funding round from the Arts Activities in Regional Communities Programme.
This initiative is delivered as part of the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Programme from the Western Australian Government.
Some 15 projects and events will share A$714,704 (£358,000/€431,000) in grants, which will be administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to support participation and access to arts and culture in regional areas of the Australian state.
Some of the events and projects receiving funding include Arts Margaret River Inc, which will gain A$26,085 for the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival which will run from May 2-4.
Elsewhere, Bunbury Fringe Festival, which kicks off later this month, will benefit from a A$49,033 grant.
Live events, entertainment, arts and culture are vital to Western Australia’s economy.
In August, it was reported that the state’s economy had enjoyed a boost A$104.9m over the previous financial year thanks to hosting matches at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and record-breaking WWE and Coldplay events.
