South Africa’s T20 cricket tournament, SA20, has warned fans to avoid purchasing tickets from unlicensed vendors and unofficial resale platforms ahead of the new season, which will begin on Thursday.
The warning comes after the competition experienced “unprecedented demand” for tickets for its third campaign.
If fans are unable to buy passes from the official online outlets, which include the competition’s official website or through TicketPro, there are six stadium ticket offices: Kingsmead, Wanderers, Centurion, Boland Park, Newlands and St George’s Park.
League commissioner Graeme Smith commented: “There has been an unprecedented demand for tickets for Betway SA20 Season 3 and we encourage all fans to purchase tickets from official outlets.
“Tickets are promised, often highly inflated prices are charged and when the buyer asks about delivery, all is silent. We strongly advise not to buy from online ‘re-sellers’. Fans may be overcharged and never see tickets while losing their money.
“The only way to be certain of avoiding disappointment is to buy through the official channels.”
Consisting of 34 matches, this season will begin when back-to-back defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, take on MI Cape Town at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Thursday.
