Coldplay’s shows at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium over the weekend have set new records for India’s largest-ever ticketed concert, with a reported 134,000 people in attendance each night.
According to the Hindustan Times, the concert beat the nearest gig’s attendance record by over 60,000. Previous attendance record-holders in India include singer Diljit Dosanjh and Canadian artist Justin Bieber, though they performed at the much smaller Sector 34 Ground in Chandigarh and D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai, respectively.
Coldplay played two shows in Ahmedabad, as well as three gigs in Mumbai as part of their long-running Music of the Spheres World Tour.

The shows also mark the biggest ever for Coldplay.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the band said: “Thank you Ahmedabad, thank you India. We’ll never forget these two weeks. Your love and kindness will stay with us forever.”
Yesterday’s (Sunday’s) concert coincided with India’s Republic Day, and was streamed on Disney + Hotstar for fans at home.
