Research institute Voxmeter has forecast that 2025 will be a record year for festivals and concerts in Denmark, although it still warns of financial challenges ahead for organisers.

The analysis is based on figures from December 2024 and shows that 72% of respondents want to visit one or more concert venues. This marks an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

Similarly, 58% want to visit one or more festivals, which is an increase of 7% compared to 2023.

Members of Dansk Live, an association that brings together live event organisers in Denmark, have supported the results of the study as they have reported a positive trend in ticket sales.

“Several of our members say that ticket sales are going really well,” said Dansk Live director Esben Marcher.

“Both at the festivals and at many of the concert venues, which have otherwise had a bit more difficulty getting ticket sales going after the decline in connection with corona and the energy crisis.

“Overall, we can see that Danes are currently spending more money on experiences than before, and it is very positive that concerts and festivals are something that Danes will also prioritise in 2025.”

Despite promising ticket sales, Voxmeter has noted that this does not necessarily mean a significant rise in revenue.

This is due to increases in production and operation costs as well as fees for artists allegedly being significantly higher than in previous years.

“Economically, the market is probably still in an imbalance after the two years of cancellations,” Marcher said.

“And a market with increasing demand for concert and festival tickets naturally results in a correspondingly high demand for equipment and artists, so it is only natural that the costs of subcontractors increase.

“For many organisers, however, it can be a challenging time with great uncertainty in budgeting, and although there is fortunately great support among the audience, as an organiser you must act with great caution in budgeting.”
