General tickets have gone on sale for the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025.

It was revealed by the organising committee that more than 250,000 tickets have been sold already during the pre-sales phase.

Ticket prices start at 2,500 yen (£13/€15.50/$16) for morning sessions, and increase to 50,000 for weekend evening sessions with premium seating.

The championships are set to run between September 13-21, with finals held in 13 of the 14 sessions across the nine days. Tokyo’s National Stadium will provide the backdrop for the major sporting event.

The championships will begin with the men’s and women’s 36km race walks, with the men’s and women’s 4x100m finals closing out the event eight days later.

Elsewhere, fans can also purchase tickets for the World Athletics Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 21-23 and taking place in the Chinese city of Nanjing.

It will be the first time that China has hosted the event, and more than 500 athletes will compete for medals across 26 disciplines.

Ticket prices will start at 92 yuan (£10/€12/$13) for a morning session, while an all-day pass in premier seats for the final day of action will begin at 1,679 yuan.
