TEG Group’s chief executive Geoff Jones has been awarded the Order of Australia for “services to business, and to the entertainment industry”.
Jones has worked in the role for over 14 years and has helped turn TEG into a global business with 35 companies under its operation across ticketing, live entertainment, and technology.
These businesses include TEG Dainty, TEG Live, Handsome, Laneway, Ticketek and more, with the latter selling more than 20 million tickets in Australia and New Zealand. This has led to expansion in Asia and the UK.
Jones has toured global artists such as Eminem, Katy Perry, and Queen as well as Australian acts such as Hilltop Hoods, Amy Shark, Keith Urban, Grinspoon, and John Butler Trio.
After leaving the Armed forces in 1998, Jones spent four years with entertainment marketing firm IMG as a director then another four years as national sales director at Foster’s Group.
His association with TEG began in 2007 when he was appointed as chief executive of Ticketek Australia.
“This prestigious award acknowledges Geoff’s significant contributions to the Live Entertainment industry in Australia, and on the global stage,” read a statement from TEG Group.
“With a career spanning over 14 years as TEG’s Group CEO, Jones has been instrumental in bringing world-class Events to global audiences across all genres of the live entertainment environment.
“Jones has also overseen Ticketek’s growth in home markets of Australia & NZ, plus Asia and the UK.”
