Dallas Mavericks are processing refunds to ticket holders left angry by the departure of star man Luka Dončić.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) team has agreed a trade that will see Slovenian Dončić head to the Los Angeles Lakers. Regarded as one of the best European players to ever move to the NBA, Dončić has been selected to five NBA All-Star games and five All-NBA First Team selections.

Front Office Sports reports that some unhappy Mavs fans have been cancelling their season ticket plans. The team, according to the report, is agreeing to the requests despite the regular season still having several weeks to run.

“We value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions,” a Mavericks corporate spokesperson said in an email to FOS. As the team’s biggest star, Dončić’s image was used to drive ticket sales, as can be seen above.

The cancellations come amid some fans learning season tickets will increase for next season. Some package prices are said to be rising by more than 60%, per NBC 5.

The Mavs play at the 21,000-capacity American Airlines Center. The team’s average attendance between 2010-2024 was around 20,500.
