Denver, a future contender in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), has hit 5,280 season ticket deposits.
It has become the fastest expansion franchise in the NWSL to eclipse 5,000 deposits, with the total reached in just three days.
The US city of Denver was awarded NWSL’s 16th team only a week ago, and will begin playing in 2026.
The new franchise also said it was finalising plans for a purpose-built stadium for professional women’s soccer, as well as a dedicated performance facility for female athletes. It will also represent the first women’s professional sports team to be based in the city.
Comprised of an ownership group that includes local and national investors such as Rob Cohen, Project Level, a subsidiary of Ariel Investments led by chairwoman Mellody Hobson and former Washington Commanders president Jason Wright, and FirstTracks Sports Ventures LLC (FTSV), the project will be led by siblings Jon-Erik Borgen and Kaia Borgen Moritz, and Neelima Joshi, Dhiren Jhaveri and Molly Coors.
“We are thrilled to see the early support for Denver NWSL. Our expansion announcement and celebration with the Denver community was a special moment for our club,” said controlling owner Rob Cohen.
“We are grateful for the warm welcome and are excited to get to work in building the best soccer club for Denver and all of the Rocky Mountain region.”
Fans that wish to secure a season ticket are still able to put down a deposit.
Team name, crest, colours and brand identity will be announced at a later date.
