Egypt’s Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) has signed an agreement with Live Nation Middle East as well as one of the country’s major ticketing platforms, TicketsMarche.
The aim of the partnership is to attract world-class entertainment and international acts to the new region.
New Administrative Capital (a placeholder name, pictured) is a new urban community that will act as a satellite city to the Egyptian capital of Cairo. The plan is for the location to eventually become the new capital, and has been under construction since 2016.
It covers an area of roughly 230,000 acres and is located roughly 60 kilometres east of Cairo. It will eventually accommodate up to 8.5 million residents, with the aim of alleviating congestion in the current capital.
Already there are plans of hosting 10 or more concerts and events in 2025, with venues such as People’s Square, Nation’s Park and the Green River able to host. ‘Green River’ will be a grand park that will weave throughout the city centre, while the People’s Square will be located close to new government buildings.
The events are expected to attract hundreds of thousands of attendees, which will help to boost tourism and establish the city as a destination for international artists.
“The cooperation between the three parties aims to organise global entertainment events and concerts in line with global and Arab tourism trends, enhancing Egypt’s position on the global tourism map,” commented Eng. Khaled Abbas, chairman and managing director of ACUD.
“The collaboration also aims to elevate the entertainment industry in Egypt by hosting world-class shows that cater to all tastes and generations.”
He added: “We want to show the world our readiness to host major global acts and for the world to see our ability to successfully host such events.”
Since 2008, Live Nation Middle East has promoted a range of events across the region including performances from the likes of Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Guns N’ Roses, Dua Lipa and more.
“This collaboration is a testament to the region’s growing appetite for global entertainment. Together, we aim to set a new benchmark for live events in the Middle East, creating unforgettable experiences that will put Egypt’s New Administrative Capital firmly on the global entertainment map,” said James Craven, president of Live Nation Middle East.
TicketsMarche’s managing director and chief commercial officer Mohamed Sirag added: “This partnership represents a transformative moment for the entertainment industry in Egypt and the wider region. By bringing together the global expertise of Live Nation Middle East, the state-of-the-art venues and infrastructure of the New Capital, and TicketsMarche long-standing commitment to enhancing the ticketing experience, we aim to redefine live entertainment in Egypt.
“This collaboration is about more than just hosting international acts; it’s about establishing Egypt as a premier entertainment hub, setting and exceeding global standards. Together, we will create unforgettable experiences for audiences, while showcasing Egypt’s progressive vision and rich cultural heritage to the world.”
