K-pop acts aespa and Red Velvet are among the headliners at SMTown Live’s debut in Mexico later this year.
The K-pop event is being presented by genre giant SM Entertainment with Ocesa K-pop serving as promoter. The SMTown Live Mexico concert will take place at Mexico City’s GNP Seguros Stadium on May 9.
Further performers confirmed for the event including SHINee’s Key and Minho, NCT 127, Hearts2Hearts, TVXQ! and Naevis.
Tickets are now available on Ticketmaster with prices ranging from MXN1,200 (£47/$58/€56) to MXN8,000 for general admission.
There are also premium packages available including the Ultimate VIP Pink Blood ticket which includes access to soundcheck with up to four bands, early access, exclusive merchandise, and a platinum A seat for MXN18,000.
The line-up has drawn some criticism on social media, with some fans saying the ticket is not worth the cost.
“Several of these groups, such as aespa and RIIZE, have already come to Mexico and it is not enough to justify the high prices,” one fan wrote.
Another wrote: “The lineup has too many absences. Girls’ Generation, Lucas, BoA, Kai and Wendy are missing. Why include Naevis and groups that haven’t even debuted yet?”
GNP Seguros Stadium boasts a capacity of 65,000 for concerts, making it the second-largest concert venue in the Mexican capital behind only Estadio Azteca’s 87,523-capacity.
Mexico City is one of five planned hosts for the SMTown Live 2025 tour which started in Seoul last month.
Following the Mexico event, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo are also due to stage concerts on May 11, June 28, and August 9-10 respectively.
The Seoul event was announced in October last year by K-pop giant SM Entertainment to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Since the inaugural tour in 2008, SMTown Live has been held in other major cities such as New York, Paris, Dubai, Santiago, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok and Singapore.
