Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will perform a free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on May 3.

The show will mark the artist’s first performance in Brazil since 2012 and will be titled Mayhem on the Beach.

It will take place near the Belmond Copacabana Palace Hotel and is open to the public through a first-come, first-served basis.

The show is part of the Todo Mundo no Rio initiative by the city government which aims to transform Copacabana Beach into a stage for major international music attractions.

In 2017, Lady Gaga had to cancel her appearance at Rock in Rio due to health issues.

“It’s a great honour to be asked to sing for Rio—for my whole career the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the little monsters,” the singer wrote on social media.

“I’ve been dying to come perform for you for years and was heartbroken when I had to cancel years ago because I was hospitalised.

“Your understanding that I needed that time to heal meant the world to me.

“I am now coming back and I feel better than ever and am working so hard to make sure this show is one you will never forget.

“Get ready for MAYHEM on the beach.”

The show will be in support of Gaga’s seventh album, “Mayhem”, which is set for release on March 7.

Todo Mundo no Rio was launched last year with Madonna serving as the first headliner.

Her performance attracted an audience of 1.6 million people, making it the largest crowd she has played to in her career.
