The figure means that the upcoming tournament, scheduled for August 22 to September 27, has already sold 50% more tickets than the previous edition in 2022.
The new tickets are available from today until March 28 at 11am GMT.
During last year’s application phase, supporters from more than 72 countries applied for tickets and an even split between men and women was seen.
The tournament kicks off at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light with the opening match between the USA and hosts England.
Prices for that match start at £10 ($12.50/€12) for adults and £5 for children.
Six of the eight host locations will hold pool matches over three weekends starting with Sunderland (Stadium of Light), Brighton and Hove (Brighton and Hove Albion Stadium), Exeter (Sandy Park), Manchester (Salford Community Stadium), Northampton (Franklin’s Gardens), and York (York Community Stadium). Exeter and Bristol (Ashton Gate Stadium) will host the quarter-finals on the weekend of September 13, with the latter also hosting both semi-finals on the weekend of September 19.
“With 95% of the population within two hours travel time to a venue, there is no better opportunity for fans across the nation to see the world’s best players showcase their star factor on rugby’s biggest stage,” read a statement from organiser World Rugby.
