Warner Bros. Discovery and Jinjiang International have combined to open the site at the Jinjiang Action Park.
The franchise is already popular in China, with Beijing home to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
The Harry Potter Studio Tour already has two locations in London and Tokyo, with the latter opening a decade later than the original in 2023 at a cost of $115m (£91.2m/€109.9m).
“The Harry Potter books are really great stories that stand the test of time,” said senior vice-president of worldwide studio tours at Warner Bros. Discovery Geoff Spooner, as reported by blooloop.
“As a brand, it’s evergreen. The original generation that read the books when they first came out and saw the films when they were first released, they’re now wanting to share that story with their children, and their children’s children.”
The project is expected to cover an area of about 53,000 square meters, including a soundstage and a backlot.
It will include some of the most famous set pieces from the Harry Potter films including Diagon Alley, Platform Nine and Three Quarters, Privet Drive, and the Hogwarts Express.
