The organisation said that it is taking the measure after its General Coordination of Inspection (CGF) identified irregularities in the use of the biometric identification systems.
“The irregularities refer to compliance with transparency obligations and the adequacy of the processing of data of children and adolescents, as provided for in the General Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD),” read a statement from the Brazilian government.
“To ensure compliance with the LGPD, the CGF ordered the establishment of inspection processes and issued a preventive measure so that, within 20 business days, football clubs publish adequate information on the registration and biometric identification procedures for fans on their ticket sales platforms.”
In addition, clubs must submit reports justifying how the processing of children’s biometric data is in the best interests of the individuals.
They have also been instructed to prove that they are compliant with regulations regarding fans’ personal data.
The clubs include the likes of defending Copa Libertadores champions Botafogo, and other notable teams including Santos and Flamengo.
