The British band are due to play four dates in Hong Kong in April as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. However, numerous ticket-holders with passes for the standing areas have complained to Hong Kong’s Consumer Council that their tickets have been misprinted.
While ticket vendor Cityline has offered a remedy to those impacted, the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau has said it is “highly concerned”. In a statement, it told Cityline to handle the matter “swiftly and properly to ensure that ticket holders’ experience would not be affected”.
Cityline is said to be offering several remedial measures, including adding ticket exchange locations in Hong Kong and mainland China. It is also extending the ticket exchange time period until the performance starts and refunding handling fees to affected ticket holders.
However, many fans are still expressing their frustration via social media over the financial and time burdens associated with the ticket exchange process. Some are requesting that Cityline provide the replacement tickets via mail at no additional cost or reimburse the expenses incurred during the exchange.
Cityline’s latest setback
The Coldplay misprint is the latest setback for Cityline. In February, it was forced to defend its systems after complaints that users were assigned tickets for the wrong day at this year’s ComplexCon Hong Kong festival.
A number of fans of K-pop group NJZ filed complaints with the Hong Kong Consumer Council after a mix-up during the ComplexCon pre-sale. Some fans said that they secured tickets for the headline act’s show at the AsiaWorld-Expo on March 23, however they were then sent tickets for the March 21 date.
