The club was recognised by the group in light of its pioneering work on artificial intelligence (AI), most notably regarding attendance prediction solutions.
The AI Alliance was co-founded by IBM and Meta and includes other major technology players such as Intel, Oracle and Sony. Major academic institutions are also part of the initiative.
Sevilla has incorporated AI into its ticketing, sponsorship and Fan 360 tools, with a special emphasis on attendance prediction solutions, which have had a significant impact on the management of the secondary ticket market. On the sporting field, the club has also developed solutions to better identify and characterise players based on the assessments of their scouts.
Fundamental principles of AI
Sevilla president José María del Nido Carrasco said: “For the club, it represents an important recognition from the technology industry and different academic institutions of our determined commitment to applying technological innovation to sport and also to our different business areas to provide our professionals with the best tools to pursue success on and off the field.”
By joining the AI Alliance, Sevilla adopts the fundamental principles of this community as its own, including global collaboration to advance AI development. Other aims include the definition and development of AI use cases in the sports industry and promotion of open source technology that fosters equitable access.
At a national level, Sevilla FC becomes the fourth Spanish institution to join the AI Alliance, along with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, MLOps Community and Esade.
