FIFA has once again reissued a warning to football fans after tickets were found on resale platforms for the 2026 men’s World Cup – despite not having gone on sale yet.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to take place across the US, Canada and Mexico from June 11 until July 19 next year. A total of 48 teams will feature across 16 host cities.
Sky News has found that Vivid Seats had a range of ticket options listed on its website for the tournament, including the final. The most expensive ticket for the final, which will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, was listed at £46,447 (€54,600/$62,000).
A check by TheTicketingBusiness found that these tickets are still listed on Vivid Seats.
The global football governing body cautioned supporters when it came to purchasing tickets for next year’s World Cup.
“FIFA encourages any fan wishing to purchase tickets for the FIFA World Cup 26 to be wary of non-FIFA official ticketing websites that claim to be selling tickets already and only purchase tickets from the official and legitimate source once those are made available,” FIFA said in a statement to Sky News.
It is not the first time FIFA has had to warn against the purchase of unofficial tickets.
Back in September, the organisation advised fans that tickets will be sold exclusively through the FIFA website and sales were expected to begin in late 2025.
