Los Angeles Football Club has teamed up with Wicket to introduce facial authentication technology for ticketing and concessions at the 22,000-capacity BMO Stadium.
Wicket is a computer vision technology company that develops and delivers software products to enhance guest experience at events.
Dubbed BMO Stadium Express, the technology will give fans of the Major League Soccer club the option of using their face as their ticket and payment method. The move is said to enhance entry to BMO Stadium and reduce wait times when making a purchase.
Fans can register in advance through Wicket’s secure enrolment portal or onsite at BMO Stadium. To support the technology’s adoption, LAFC will launch a comprehensive educational campaign with in-app notifications, stadium signage and a dedicated landing page with FAQs.
“At LAFC, we are committed to redefining the live sports experience through advanced technology,” said the club’s chief technology officer, Christian Lau.
“By integrating Wicket’s best-in-class facial authentication technology, we’re making it easier than ever for fans to get to their seats and enjoy the game.”
Wicket chief executive Alastair Partington added: “We’re proud to partner with LAFC to improve ticketing and concessions with facial authentication.
“BMO Stadium Express demonstrates how thoughtful use of technology can genuinely improve the fan experience – making it simpler, faster, and more seamless. It’s been a pleasure collaborating with a club so committed to innovation.”
