We round up the latest movements from the ticketing sector and associated industries…
Jake Vernon (L) has switched up the National Basketball Association (NBA) and WNBA for the National Hockey League (NHL).
A longtime executive with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, Vernon has joined the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres as chief commercial officer.
In this role, Vernon will oversee ticketing, sponsorship operations, and the Sabres’ business intelligence development. He will report to chief operating officer Pete Guelli.
Sydney Fringe has announced that chief executive and festival director Kerri Glasscock (R) will be stepping down from the role after 12 years.
During her tenure, Glasscock helped to increase the profile of Sydney Fringe, building it up from a small community event to the one of the largest independent arts festivals in New South Wales.
“Throughout Kerri’s time at Sydney Fringe she has worked tirelessly to place independent artists at the heart of our city,” commented Maree Taylor, chair of Sydney Fringe.
“Sydney Fringe has experienced an extraordinary period of growth under her leadership, tripling ticketed attendance and most importantly increasing box office revenue back to artists by over 400%.”
Hackney Empire executive director Jo Hemmant is set to step down after 12 years at the venue.
Hemmant will remain in the post until the end of 2025 and will produce this year’s pantomime; she has done this for the last seven years.
Before joining Hackney Empire in 2012, Hemmant was a producer on London 2012 and the Cultural Olympiad.
Elsewhere, the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) have appointed Nick Esmore in the newly formed role of finance director.
Beginning his role on May 5, Esmore will be responsible for the organisations’ finance, PPCA Distribution, business technology, ARIA Charts and HR portfolios.
