The present Commercial and Media Director, Mick Desmond, announced earlier this year his intention to retire following The Championships 2021. As a result, the AELTC is seeking to establish and appoint two newly defined roles reporting to the Chief Executive.

Commercial Director

The Commercial Director will assume overall responsibility for driving revenue growth in line with the values, brand vision and philosophy. This includes continuing to build and foster authentic partnerships with broadcasters and Official Suppliers alongside the commercial exploitation of the marketing and brand vision for Wimbledon.

Communications & Marketing Director

The Communications & Marketing Director will assume overall responsibility for communications, marketing and brand vision of The Championships. The key aim is to grow reach, exposure, and engagement of and with Wimbledon to a global audience. This will include audience development and engagement, content development and creation and enhancing and promoting Wimbledon’s reputation.

Both roles are senior appointments who will need to work in close partnership and collaboratively with each other. The job holders will have to meet many challenges and be able to balance the interests of The Club, The Championships and other parties. They will need to analyse, understand and take action on a wide range of complex issues and meet many deadlines.
