The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over three million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 130,000 members. The Australian Sports Museum has its home at the MCG, celebrating Australia’s rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC.

A casual job opportunity has arisen in the Customer Service Team – Tourism for experienced customer focused team members. These positions provide a key support role in the delivery of exceptional customer service. In particular, in front of house customer interactions, ticket sales, managing the ‘Game On’ interactive gallery in the Australian Sports Museum and assisting with the facilitation of MCG tours.

The type of work varies including:

  • Providing timely, courteous and professional customer service
  • Resolving service issues including complaints and system faults
  • Facilitating visitor experiences within the ‘Game On’ interactive gallery and MCG stadium tours
  • Administration tasks including ticket sales, point of sale cash handling and phone enquires
  • Ensuring safe and compliant operational use of all interactives within the ‘Game On’ gallery including cleaning of the equipment after use
  • Performing day-to-day administration duties as required

You will need to know how to build relationships, be able to engage with a diverse range of visitors, be well equipped to anticipate customers’ questions and recommend appropriate solutions, all with a smile! This is a busy role for people who are passionate about creating an exceptional visitor experience.

To be successful your application should demonstrate the following requirements:

  • Strong customer service experience – and passion for delivering exceptional visitor experiences.
  • Experience working in a tourism visitor or customer service environment and dealing with a diverse range of people.
  • Professional presentation skills.
  • Competent computer skills, including point of sale ticketing systems.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • High level of verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Interest in Australian sport.
  • Ability to contribute strongly in a team environment.

There is a requirement in this casual role to be available to work as part of a flexible roster. The expectation is that successful applicants will be available to work a combination of weekend dates and weekdays from 9.00am to 5.00pm with the view to obtaining 3-4 shifts per week. The role on occasions will be asked to assist with events that may be held outside these hours.
