Mission: As the first Head of Finance at Tixel, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business. Reporting directly to a co-founder,  you will draw on your strong financial background to leverage finance as a strategic tool, moving beyond traditional reporting to drive forward-thinking decisions that shape the future of the company. You will play a critical role in using financial insights to support strategic initiatives, including expansion into new countries and business verticals.

With a small finance team currently in place, this Head of Finance will have the opportunity to build on existing successes and level up the finance function to support our growth plans. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader, a strategic thinker and a good collaborator with strong technical capabilities.

The gig:

Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and execute a long-term financial strategy aligned with Tixel’s growth, ensuring alignment with business goals and expansion in Australia, the UK, and the US. Provide financial insights that influence strategic decisions at the executive level.

FP&A: Design, implement lead an effective budgeting process that aligns with the company’s goals and market conditions. Maintain a forward-looking perspective on cash flow, profitability, and capital needs to support scaling operations.

Scaling Financial Operations and Controls: Build and optimise financial systems, processes, and controls that can support rapid growth and expansion into new markets. Ensure that the finance function can manage risk and adapt to increasing complexity and international operations. This includes but is not limited to managing cash, payroll, payment platforms and managing other vendor relationships.

Reporting & Compliance: Design systems and processes so that accurate and timely reporting is accessible to management and the board, in appropriate formats. Oversee compliance in all regions, including taxes and management of grants.

Team Leadership and Development: Establish a high-performing finance team capable of supporting the company’s strategic goals. Mentor and develop a small team of finance professionals, ensuring they are equipped to handle advanced budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning as the business scales.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in leading finance for a scaleup or high-growth company (ideally with a marketplace or SaaS background).
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting for a rapidly scaling company.
  • CPA or CA qualified, or equivalent financial qualification with a strong foundation in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Experience in implementing financial systems and controls to support operational growth, especially in international markets.
  • Problem solver, being able to operate with ambiguity and synthesise complex financial information.
  • Strong communication with the ability to effectively communicate externally and internally.
  • Experience working closely with online payments, and the risk management required to operate a transactional business with online merchant facilities
  • Familiarity with international tax, legal, and compliance issues related to operating in multiple markets.
  • Ability to build and mentor finance teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record in high-growth tech companies or marketplaces.
  • Experience partnering with teams cross functionally, including marketing, product, and Business Intelligence.
