The UK arm of nightclub operator Rekom has split from its owner, Denmark’s Rekom Group, and will now be controlled by its main lender ACG.

As part of the move, Rekom UK will now trade as Neos Hospitality.

Neos will continue to be one of the UK’s largest nightclub operators with 24 sites in total. Prior to the business experiencing troubles earlier this year, Rekom operated a portfolio of roughly 40 sites including nightclub brands such as Atik, Switch and Pryzm.

In February, the assets of Rekom UK were sold for £19.5m (€23m/$24m) in a pre-pack administration process. While 1,000 members of staff were retained, more than 400 jobs were lost when the business closed a number of its UK nightclubs. The closures were attributed to rising operating costs and a drop in trade since the pandemic.

Copenhagen-headquartered Rekom Group originally bought the operator of administration in 2020.

Operations of the remaining nightclubs will be unaffected by the change in ownership.
