We – the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 – are looking for people like you! Together with you, we want to increase the visibility and recognition of people with intellectual and multiple disabilities in society and put together a thrilling major sports event that makes history.

As the organizers of the world’s biggest inclusive sports event for people with and without intellectual disabilities, we are expecting around 7,000 athletes as well as unified partners and 190 delegations in Berlin from 17 to 25 June 2023. With the Special Olympics World Games 2023 we are sending a worldwide signal of togetherness. Our goal is to make a sustainable contribution to an inclusive, diverse society with and after the World Games and to change people’s minds.

To strengthen our team in division ,,Constituent Services”, we are looking for the following to join us from June 06th on:

    “Spectator Services, Venue Manager” (m/f/d) 
Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin
    Full time / limited 5th-26th June 2023

2 of our flagship venues are Olympia Park and Messe. Both host numerous sports, along with sponsor zones, spectator engagement activities and more. The Spectator Services team will be present with a full team of full time staff, key volunteers and general volunteers. And we are looking for Venue Managers (m/w/f) to join us to execute our Spectator Services (SPS) plan.
The Brandenburg Gate and Straße des 17. Juni venue will host our exciting cycling competition, along with an evening programme of events including a partnership with Fete De La Musique, Athlete’s Disco and our Closing Ceremony.

WE WOULD ENTRUST YOU WITH FULFILLING THE FOLLOWING TASKS:
  • Oversee the Spectator Services and Ticketing (SPS) services at our Strasse 17th Juni / Brandenburg Gate venue or at one of our flagship venues
  • Be the link between the SPS team and the wider venue team to ensure the smooth execution of the events and troubleshooting onsite
  • Manage the daily SPS volunteers system onsite, working with our Volunteer Coordinator and Key Volunteers to ensure our General Volunteers are well briefed, trained and supervised
  • Work with the Security team onsite to ensure the daily events are safe, the access control points run smoothly and security staff are well briefed
  • Working with the wider team to ensure our barrier free strategy is implemented and services readily available
  • Attend the daily venue briefings to represent the SPS team
  • Ensure our information points are kept well stocked, clean and functional daily
  • Work with the wider team to facilitate the venues bump in and out. Including information point set up, access gates and ticketing equipment as required
  • Oversee the daily opening and closing of the SPS services at each venue (assisted by the wider SPS team) (Messe / Olympiapark)
  • Work with the Fans in the Stands team to ensure the attending groups are seated smoothly (Messe / Olympiapark)
  • Manage the daily transition from cycling competition venue to cultural event for the SPS team (Brandenburg Gate / Straße des 17. Juni)
IT WOULD BE OUTSTANDING IF YOU CAN OFFER THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
  • Completed studies in arts, business, tourism or sports management or a comparable qualification
  • Fluent English, fluent German (not necessary but preferred)
  • Experience managing volunteers / teams in an event/festival environment especially in a customer service context
  • Experience in a similar role in the sports or cultural industries working on events, sports or cultural activities
  • Strong ability to work effectively in groups of people from other disciplines and at different levels of the organization
  • A history of providing superior level of customer service and a love of creating connections and engaging with stakeholders
  • Sensitivity to the needs of our participants and volunteers
  • Structured and efficient way of working with the ability to deliver in high pressure environments
  • A flexible schedule and ability to work predominately night shifts
