FA of Wales introduces staggered ticket model for World Cup campaign

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has released ticket details for the national team’s qualifying campaign for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Each of Wales’ home games will take place at Cardiff City Stadium, with the FAW having launched a new staggered sales model in an attempt to reward loyal supporters.

Following its run to the semi-finals of Uefa Euro 2016, Wales is currently 11th in the Fifa world rankings. Interest in the team has risen as a result of its strong showing in France, and the FAW is keen to ensure supporters who were already enrolled on its membership scheme prior to the tournament do not miss out.

2018 World Cup gold or junior members who signed up prior to Euro 2016, are Euro 2016 gold members, and have a ticket from the tournament assigned to their account, will be granted a maximum of two tickets each for matches during the World Cup qualifying campaign. Those tickets went on sale earlier today (Thursday) and will remain so until July 26.

Stage 2 of the process grants a maximum of one ticket to World Cup and Euro 2016 gold or junior members, regardless of when they signed up. Fans who are not members but do have evidence of a Euro 2016 ticket will also be eligible to buy tickets during this phase, which runs from July 28 to August 2.

The third stage will run from August 3-12 and grants World Cup gold or junior members who signed up before Euro 2016 a maximum of one ticket per game.

The fourth and final stage is for World Cup gold or junior members who signed up after Euro 2016 began. These fans will be eligible to purchase one ticket each from August 16, with the closing date to be confirmed.

Wales’ first home qualifier is on September 5 against Moldova. Wales will also face Georgia, Serbia, Austria and Ireland in Group D.
