MGM-owned arena offers refund to basketball fans

Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena is to refund basketball fans who missed the start of the recent international between US and Argentina due to ticket office congestion.

MGM Resorts International, which owns the arena, called the incident an “unacceptable situation”, and said it would return money to around 500 spectators.Problems occurred when ticket holders that had used third-party vendors, including Groupon, arrived at the same time, causing queues that remained until after the game had started.

According to the Associated Press news agency, MGM spokeswoman Mary Hynes said that many of the customers had been admitted or offered refunds by the second quarter.

The company said it is reviewing the “unusual” circumstances that created the bottleneck to prevent it from happening again.
