Ticket Spicket start-up to hit the market in August

A new college sports-focused ticketing and promotions start-up is scheduled to hit the market next month.

A prototype of the Ticket Spicket application, which it is hoped will serve as hub for tickets to college sports events, will be released on August 1.

Ticket Spicket will allow users to make ticket transactions online prior to entering an event, and will also include a smartphone-scanning option on the gate.

In addition, Ticket Spicket will seek to provide teams with donations and sponsorship fees through the money it receives through payment process fees.

Donnie Schemetti, one of Ticket Spicket’s co-founders, anticipates that much of its profit will be generated through in-app charges. In an interview with the Richmond BizSense news website, he admitted Ticket Spicket would not be sustainable if it focused solely on tickets.

“We’re not trying to jack ticket prices up 50%,” Schemetti said. “We just want to get some fans in the seats, and if we can get sponsorship revenue on top of that coming in, that benefits everybody involved.”
