Universal Orlando introduces new mobile ticketing app

The Universal Orlando Resort in Florida has launched a mobile application that will allow visitors to purchase and redeem tickets via their mobile phones.

Tickets snapped up through the app will provide a QR Code that will be scanned at the entrances of the turnstiles at the theme park.

The customer will need to keep the same phone that made the purchase in order to retain the QR Code, but the system can cope with multiple guests per transaction.

The mobile ticketing system will be expanded to offer discounts for Florida residents later this year and the service is not yet available for annual pass-holders.

Universal said that it is actively answering questions about the new app on social media website Twitter with the #AskUniversal hashtag.
